About

Ever since I bought my first tape recorder in 1984, my life has revolved around sound, video and music. In between my audio and video restoration work, I tour the world as a sound engineer & production manager. During my teenage years in the 1980’s I was in and out of local orchestras and recording studios as a jobbing drummer and percussionist, and was lucky enough to get a work placement at CTS studios in Wembley after completing my ‘O’ levels. I worked at Sevenoaks Hifi & Video on Saturdays and studied TV Broadcast Operations at Ravensbourne College or Design & Communication in Chislehurst when I left school.

Having moved to London in the early 90’s when my band was signed to Gilles Peterson’s Talkin’ Loud label, I began my musical career in earnest, spending the 1990’s touring the world and recording in some of the best (and worst) recording studios, soaking it all in and gaining valuable experience in the world of audio mixing and production. I feel truly blessed to have lived through those times and experienced the audio and video world transition from analogue to digital. I’ve had countless recording and mixing setups over the years, culminating in The Park Studios in Brighton in 2009 which eventually was sold as an ongoing business in 2019.

It all started when my father was given a Super8 Cine camera by my grandfather …. my family would gather around the projector during the 1970’s, for ‘home movie’ nights and my childhood is immortalised on those reels of 8mm film. As such I have gained a deep rooted passion for archiving and preserving old media, and my nostalgia is always piqued when a new client gives me a box they’ve found in the loft, or a colleague from the music industry hands me a box of reel to reels …. I just can’t wait to discover the hidden gems that they contain! Helping others to unlock the past is a hugely rewarding and often emotional process.
